Reviews for Foo Chow Restaurant
Review highlights
Based on 176 reviewsFoo Chow Restaurant in Richfield Springs is well-regarded for its consistently flavorful Chinese cuisine, noted for fresh ingredients and well-prepared dishes like scallops with garlic sauce and chicken fried rice. Patrons appreciate the reasonable pricing and generous portion sizes, making it a popular choice for takeout. The atmosphere is described as a charming blend of vintage and modern, with staff making efforts to be friendly despite a somewhat impersonal dine-in experience. A notable operational aspect is the cash-only payment policy, which some find inconvenient, especially given recent health precautions like plexiglass barriers. Overall, Foo Chow is praised for quality food and value but could enhance the dining ambiance and payment options.
Nice hot food. Absolutely delicious. Reasonably priced. Cash or check only!
The best Chinese food around! It's the only one that is consistently good. I've always gotten take out, the dine in situation seems very impersonal.
I was having a vacation around the area as I want to explore more upstate NY, you see, I'm from an island. When I came to this place, it felt like entering a vintage home with some modern culinary. The employees try to be as friendly as they can. The chef makes great food. Definitely would be a regular if I lived there. Just remember CASH is needed.
Really good food. I bought the scallops with garlic sauce. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. They were just right not too soft and still nice and crunchy and very fresh. I bought some chicken fried rice also.
Great American Chinese food for the price and particularly for the area. Portion sizes are good and so are both the combos and individual items. They have boarded up pretty heavily since Covid, makes sense to play it safe considering the disposition of a lot of folks in the area during that time. Only downside is cash only, but obnoxious to be handing cash through plexiglass drawers in this day and age.
The food was good. But the place looks like it is set up to prevent violent crime and it is not in a high crime area.. The only interaction you have with an employee is through plexiglass. You basically serve yourself. It is not a friendly atmosphere. It is much better suited For take out.
Place looked skeptical. Then I saw a note on the menu saying something along the lines of “the food taste delicious give it a chance”. I ordered with a very kind gentleman at the counter, got multiple items for me and my boyfriend. He said 15 minutes, we waited about ten. The food was ready and piping hot. Wonton soup app was a 10/10. Crab Rangoons were hot and jam packed! Appetizers were delicious. Then I got the sesame chicken over rice lunch special. Very cheap and he said smaller portion so I was expecting a small lunch portion. I received A FULL bowl, And HALF was chicken. Not like other places that put the chicken just on top to make it seem like a lot, but you’re actually getting 80% rice, this was a 50/50 portion of amazing, fresh fried chicken and nicely cooked white rice. I give this place 5 stars because it is defiantly a hole in the wall. I can’t wait to visit this small town again and suggest this place to my family and friends. Thank you Foo Chow! And thank you chef for not letting me down but exceeding my expectations.
